El Coliseo de San Juan, Puerto Rico tropical landscape art

El Coliseo de San Juan & Caro Rose
The stories about Puerto Rico on this blog are not meant to offend anyone. They are simply just memories made by a college student who was invited to spend some time within the family. We recognize that the Island of Puerto Rico was never left the same after it met Hurricane Maria and the memories made before the incident are only meant to keep its culture and spirit alive in this time of tragedy as we wait for the world to heal. We all want to reminisce about our travel experiences and hopefully spending some time remembering will liven our spirits to see better days abroad ahead.

A dome, located in the middle of San Juan, Puerto Rico's metropolitan area hosted some of Latin America's most famous voices like Manny Manuel, David Bisbal, and Cristian Castro. On that night in Spring break of 2016, Caro Rose attended Barak live. Some of you may know the Christian Vocal group is famous for their uplifting gospel songs. A treat to visit that Rose did not expect when her aunt invited her over to visit that Spring Break in Perto Rico.

As the three walked over to the restaurant near the Coliseo, her aunt raved about the Coliseo's live shows and that the pizza nearby

As Rose painted this scene she indeed recalled that conversation they had in front of the Coliseo on their way to the Pizzeria. The pizza was indeed good because its thin crispy crust reflected the quality of the authentic stone oven they prepared it in; right in front of the consumers, just like in Naples, Italy.

However, she can't go without mentioning the only desert that ever made her cry in her life. The tears came as a result of a mixture of emotions but first, she has to explain the significance. As a student of the French language, she was enthralled to see a French dessert on the menu. Therefore, this was the first place she ever tried Crème Brûlée on this side of the Atlantic.

Once the spoon penetrated the crackly glass toping that coated the melt in your mouth mouse-like texture, it overwhelmed her senses bringing her anxiety to the top of her nasals like the foam that covers a cappuccino and calming at the same time, her nostalgia of back home, for just a moment to realize that she loved to travel. She cannot go without saying that each bite tasted even better as she shared it with her family.

Moreover, for her, she thinks the most challenging part of making this painting was mixing the colors without black, brown or grey to get the effects she wanted from the street, buildings, and street posts. However, the most fun part was making a picture that looks as close to the original as possible that captured her special family memories.
