Painting in progress: Making an impromptu tropical landscape artwork

Caro Rose, Painter, making el Viejo San Juan 2; photo by Caro Rose Here we have Caro Rose, artist, painting a tropical landscape art  in progress,  Touring el Viejo San Juan 2 for the audience. She says one of the most fun parts of creating the painting is using the leftover amounts of acrylic paints on her palette.  "I had a lot of leftover red on my palette," says Rose. "I thought I should make something else to not waste anything!" So she gathered the rest of the red and blues on her palette from painting  Touring el Viejo San Juan 1  to try to match the colors as best as she could. It was a challenging feat without a doubt because she didn't know where to begin with all the red she had left. She felt that she made a lot of mistakes along the way. She says she is not too happy with the outcome of the clouds as she used red to accidentally mix in the puffy apparitions. She scrambled to see what she could do go fix the dilemma but ended up staying

The stories about Puerto Rico on this blog are not meant to offend anyone. They are simply just memories made by a college student who was invited to spend some time within the family. We recognize that the Island of Puerto Rico was never left the same after it met Hurricane Maria and the memories made before the incident are only meant to keep its culture and spirit alive in this time of tragedy as we wait for the world to heal. We all want to reminisce about our travel experiences and hopefully spending some time remembering will liven our spirits to see better days abroad ahead.  A dome, located in the middle of San Juan, Puerto Rico's metropolitan area hosted some of Latin America's most famous voices like Manny Manuel, David Bisbal, and Cristian Castro. A treat to visit that Rose did not expect when her au

Sunset Ash: Volcano Arenal, Costa Rica, tropical landscape art

One morning in July of 1968, La Fortuna, Costa Rica’s large cone mass exploded, spewing fire and lava that destroyed nearby villages over the process of a few days. This large Volcano is Costa Rica’s Volcan Arenal and is one of Costa Rica’s most famous semi-active volcanoes. According to Arenal Observatory Lounge and Spa , “ For 42 years, Arenal Volcano was Costa Rica’s most active volcano  with flowing lava and pyroclastic surges that blasted huge rocks and cauliflower-shaped ash clouds into the air. Explosions were often accompanied by loud rumblings, which would wake tourists up at night. The last big explosions occurred on August 25, 2001, March 2007, September 18, 2008, March 2, 2009, and May 24, 2010. None, however, compared to that of 1968” (2019). This volcano symbolizes the endearment that Caro Rose’s father has taken to Costa Rica. He frequents on mission trips where he talks to the natives about the gospel of Jesus Christ; his death and his resurrection (1 Thessalo

While they were out, Rose recalled that a family friend from back home in Florida wanted a picture of the residence where he was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. So while we searched the streets for the address, Caro

Why I chose art

Image
Fine art is something I always enjoyed doing. In high school, I won a few awards for creating some paintings and pieces for the FAFO art walk in Florida. I also always enjoyed doodling in my notebook during classes and art has always been something that I just come back to as an outlet during study periods in college. Now I am waiting to get into graduate school. I am a history major and I need a few extra funds.  Under this time constraint and due to lack of resources I feel that turning to art is a good outlet for me. So I want to pursue freelance painting to see where it can take me and what it is like to make a few extra dollars to fund my college expenses. Original Photo by Pixabay As I followed this idea, I went to the nearest craft store about two weeks ago and stocked up on all my primary colors and essential artist tools to start making art. Some of the materials that I will be using in this following set are Master's touch acrylic paints, The Fine Touch Brush
